Dopo aver interrotto la produzione del Walkman e della PlayStation 2 , Sony ha fatto sapere che cesserà a Marzo anche la produzione del Minidisc. Il Minidisc (MD) è un supporto digitale magneto-ottico per la registrazione e riproduzione di informazione audio lanciato ufficialmente da Sony nel 1992. Il formato però non è mai riuscito ad imporsi nel mercato di massa, fatta ad eccezione per quello Giapponese. L'obbiettivo di Sony era quello di far diventare il Mindisc, l'equivalente digitale delle musicassette.
After stopping the production of the Walkman and PlayStation 2, Sony said it would cease to March the production of the MiniDisc. The MiniDisc (MD) is a digital magneto-optical recording and playback of audio information officially launched by Sony in 1992. The format, however, has never been able to penetrate the mass market, with the exception for the Japanese. The goal of Sony was to make the Mindisc, the digital equivalent of cassettes.
